You can use a dry erase marker but then anytime somebody touches the refrigerator, even lightly, it will rub off. We just use some of our homemade multi-purpose cleaner with a paper towel and it comes right off. Every now and then we'll wait too long to take it off but then some Chlorox Clean Up will take care of it.
I do keep a master grocery list but this solution works well as an easy way for my family to keep me informed of what we need. Works for me!

Hi. I found your blog from the WFMW links @ the Rocks in my Dryer blog. I love the Master Grocery List idea. I saved your copy and plan to edit to what we normally buy. I am picturing this on the side of my fridge and I can check things as I see we need them. Is that how you do yours?

What a good idea! I actually have a white board on my fridge, but it's too small! I'm going to try this. I'll test a small out of sight area, first. Just in case my fridge is different than yours.
Also, loved your list of rules. But fried chicken in bed? You must live in the south. I have a "no food in bed" rule, but beverages are fine. :)

Great tip! And very smart to mention that dry erase would rub off. I think I have some Vis-a-vis markers around here.
Love this idea and yes! it works w/ black ones too, you have to buy a light colored dry erase marker (NEON PINK OR GREEN). I bought red and you can't see it that well.
