Our Breakfast Rotation

I was asked to share our breakfast rotation when I asked for lunch ideas. Let me say first of all that my rotation is BORING, but it keeps life simple and easy in the mornings when we are all finding our way. That said, here it is:

Mondays - Cold Cereal (Raisin Bran, Granola)
Tuesdays - Smoothies (mostly strawberry banana) and Muffins (all different kinds)
Wednesdays - Eggs (Scrambled, or boiled) with Toast
Thursdays - Oatmeal
Fridays - Pancakes or Waffles with yogurt. (thanks to Gracie)
Saturdays - Smoothies (again) or Yogurt and then we sometimes make a donut run.
Sundays - Hodge Podge. I've made biscuits and eggs, served fruit and toast, yogurt, or even made oatmeal again.

Yes...we do eat fruit almost every morning and, Yes...this menu is the same EVERY WEEK. We are all used to it and it means that we can move on to more interesting things. I'd love to hear your other ideas.

Wow..a breakfast rotation! I wouldn't mind that EVERY WEEK!

I don't know if American culture is somewhat different from Australian culture regarding Brekky, or if I'm just particularly lazy. My girls get Weet-bix or Rice Bubbles (both boxed cereals) EVERY MORNING. No toast, oats, porridge, bacon, eggs or what-not. Maybe once every few months we will do something more adventurous! Your rotation is pretty exciting if you ask me :)

Hi Crystal,

I found you through the Sonlight forums. I am impressed with the variety in your weekly breakfast rotation. For an even more boring rotation, I thought I'd share ours.

Mon: oatmeal (recently switched to steel-cut. longer to cook, yummier to eat.)
Tues: cold cereal
Wed: Eggs with bagels or english muffins
Thurs: oatmeal
Fri: pancakes or french toast. cold cereal if I'm running behind.
Sat: oatmeal
Sun: cold cereal

I wanted my kids to eat oatmeal and they were fighting me, so I instituted the breakfast rotation in order to get them used to oatmeal without eating it every day. I buy it in bulk now, and it's really helped with the grocery budget!

We've been doing this now for probably five or six years. I love it because it really cut out the complaining over breakfast and now my oldest (9) makes breakfast every day (except Fridays - I've not gotten around to teaching him to make pancakes yet).

God bless!
