Secrets of the Secret Place

I took an opportunity a couple of weeks ago (another reason why I took a break from blogging) to get away with my husband for 2.5 days (yes...that half day counted!). During the time away I was able to finish a wonderful book. My sister shared this one with me and it's a keeper.

I've introduced you to a few books before, but this one is beneficial for the very foundation of a Christian building his or her relationship with God. Let me introduce you to Secrets of the Secret Place by Bob Sorge. This book brings to life the benefits of cultivating your personal time with the Lord. I love my quiet times with the Lord, especially first thing in the morning before my family awakes, but I have to admit that sometimes I just straight get lazy and become inconsistent, doing it out of habit more than anything else.

This book reignited my desire. I was reminded how crucial my time with the Lord is to the effectiveness of the life I live. Not only that, I was also reminded about the riches available to me when I meet with the Lord, hear from him, and am empowered to live the life that he has for me.

If you are struggling with your quiet time or if you just want to know about the hidden treasures available to those that priority time with God, you should read this book. It has flipped a switch in my thinking and I've been both challenged and encouraged to spend frequent, consistent, and quality time with the Savior.

good for you for taking a getaway! It is so important in our marriages to have a few days to ourselves, even if it is staying home and making arrangements for our kids.

I'm always looking for a good book, so I'll add this one to my list. (it is a LONG list!)
