Friday in Durban...

Wow! South Africa is apparently an extremely diverse nation. There are different people of all different colors all over the place. Even within folks of similar skin shades there are varying languages, cultures, and communities. America is a melting pot but South America even moreso. It's amazing to hear 3 or 4 different languages in a span of 5 minutes walking down the street.

Durban is on the coast. We are on the Indian Ocean and the views are breathtaking. Everything I saw today I took in from van...on the way to the mall. Isn't that a mess? But hey, our luggage was lost and we all wanted some....ummmm...clean underwear :)

Here is a map (like anybody cares)

See the words INDIAN OCEAN? Durban is the 3rd city above those words. Its yellow dot is a tad larger then the 1st two.

I have yet to upload actual pics from my camera. I'm downstairs in the hotel to get internet access and I left my camera cord upstairs....So...here are a couple of the things I saw today (from Google images).

This is the view from my hotel room window. Amazing that this is from Google. I have the exact same shot on my camera.

This was our view of Durban City Hall when we stepped out of the hotel to go exchange our dollars for South African Rand.

This was the view from the van on the way to the mall.

This was the view on the way home from the mall. It is called the Durban Golden Mile.

Other than my van ride, I slept in, mosied around the hotel, and even took a nap in the lobby of the hotel. I'm still jet lagged and still trying to catch up on missed Zzzzz's from getting ready for the trip but I slowly feel myself unwinding.

Oh...and our luggage finally got here late tonight. I'll post more later....G'night!
