Walking...Weird or Normal?

Tonight for exercise and for fun, my kiddos and I walked to Wal-Mart. We needed the exercise, fresh air, and some stuff from the store. It was a 30 minute walk there and then another 30 minutes back. My littles were in the double stroller and Gracie and I took turns pushing it.

We've done it before. Tonight though I felt a little different. It just dawned on me that NOBODY was walking on the sidewalk of our residential neighborhood. You would think with a grocery store on the corner you would see lots of folks taking advantage of a beautiful Texas fall evening - not so...

Growing up, especially during the summers, we walked up the street to the library or down the other major cross-street to go to McDonalds and eat it on the way back :) People just don't do that anymore...the walk I mean.

I found myself being self-conscious and wondering if the people driving past us in their cars thought that our car was "broke-down" or that we didn't have any gas money.

Truth is...it was a nice way to spend time with my family. The boys had a ball (they LOVE going to the store) and we got some great exercise (Wal-mart is down the hill which means coming home is UP the hill).

Earlier this week, we took a walk before dinner. Our neighborhood has a beautiful creek trail. No one else was walking that either. Maybe we are just weird.
